Avatar TLA: Katara

After posting photos of other people's awesome cosplays I was lucky enough to be able to photograph, I feel a little weird putting up my own lame one... but I did spend quite a bit of time on this and am quite proud of it! This is the first time I created everything from scratch, right from drafting the patterns. I'm quite slow at sewing and always seem to manage to sew things on the wrong way a few times, so I was working down the wire despite starting quite a while in advance. I didn't manage to finish my big fluffy South Pole jacket in time, so I'm really hoping to wear this costume again sometime (Avatar photo shoot anyone??) again to get some better shots of it.

One bit I'm super proud of is the Water tribe betrothal pendant, which is made of a mixture of translucent white and translucent blue Fimo with the pattern carved into it before baking. I may not be able to sew well, but I do love my clay!
